Sevillano Bengoechea, Guillermo
Bio
Graduated as an Architect from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (ETSAM), where he is also pursuing his PhD, and holder of a Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University in New York, he co-founded the architectural practice SUMA in Madrid together with Elena Orte in 2005.
He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Architectural Design at ETSAM and a visiting lecturer at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC). He has also taught at Camilo José Cela University and has participated in numerous national and international seminars and workshops worldwide, including in São Paulo, New York, Cairo, Barcelona, and Madrid.
His work has been widely published in national and international architectural journals, including AV Monographs, Arquitectura Viva, A&C, Living Architecture, Passages, BIA, OnDesign, and Tectónica, among others, as well as on architectural websites such as Platform for Architecture and Aphasia. He has participated in a variety of exhibitions, including those held at IFEMA Madrid, Matadero Madrid, EMVS, and Fresh Madrid, and has delivered lectures internationally in cities such as New York, Beijing, Vienna, Istanbul, and various locations across Australia.
Together with his team and collaborators, he has won numerous national and international architectural competitions, including projects for a library and nursery school in Barcelona, a library and multi-purpose community centre in Fuerteventura, 50 social housing units for EMVS, and 73 public housing units in San Sebastián de los Reyes for IVIMA. His work has also been shortlisted and awarded in other major competitions, including the Helsinki Central Library and the Arts Centre of Verín, Galicia.
