Peydro Duclos, Ignacio

Ignacio Peydró Duclos studied at the Madrid School of Architecture (ETSAM), the Bartlett School of Architecture in London, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he completed an advanced post-professional Master of Science in Architecture Studies (SMArchS) as a Fulbright Scholar. He graduated as an architect with a final degree project that received the Polytechnic University–MAPFRE Foundation Award, the Alejandro de la Sota Award for the Best Final Degree Project of the year at the Madrid School of Architecture, granted by the White Chair of the Department of Architectural Design at ETSAM, and the First Runner-Up Prize in the national Pasajes iGuzzini Award. He earned his PhD with International Mention from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) in the Department of Architectural Design with the doctoral dissertation Contingency in Post-Situationist Architecture.

He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Architectural Design at ETSAM. Between 2011 and 2016, he taught Architectural Design at IE University. He has been a Fulbright Scholar, a Graduate Fellow in the MIT Department of Architecture, and a Teaching Assistant at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He has also taught Architectural Design and Design Theory at Francisco de Vitoria University in Madrid and at the Architectural Association (AA) Summer School in London in 2015 and 2017. He was invited as a lecturer to the Würzburg Architectural Workshop in Germany in 2007 and 2010.

Before founding DOSIS, he collaborated with Mansilla + Tuñón in Madrid, contributing to projects including the Automotive Museum in Madrid and the Relais & Châteaux Atrio Hotel and Restaurant in Cáceres. He also worked with David Chipperfield Architects in London on projects including the headquarters of the British Film Institute in London and the City of Justice in Barcelona. More recently, he co-authored the book This is the Future.

In 2006, together with Isabel Collado, he founded DOSIS, a laboratory of creative processes committed to advancing the boundaries of knowledge related to the built environment through innovative architectural solutions.

His work has been widely published and recognized internationally, receiving awards such as the Holcim Award, the Best of Architecture 2016 distinction by DOMUS magazine, and the Gold Star for Professional Excellence in 2019. His work has also been featured in exhibitions including the Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism. His projects and buildings have received national and international awards and have been exhibited in cities such as San Francisco, London, Paris, Geneva, various locations in Denmark, and Madrid.
