Pemjean Muñoz, Rodrigo
Bio
Rodrigo Pemjean Muñoz is an Associate Professor of Architectural Design at the Madrid School of Architecture (ETSAM), where he has been teaching since 1998. In 2013, he was a Visiting Professor at the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM) in Querétaro, Mexico. In 2017, he completed a teaching and research stay at the Politecnico di Milano, where he also served as a Visiting Professor in 2018.
He graduated as an Architect from ETSAM in 1993, receiving the Extraordinary Award for Academic Excellence. His academic training includes a scholarship at the Istituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia (IUAV) between 1991 and 1992. He earned his PhD in Architecture from ETSAM in 2005 and was awarded the Extraordinary Doctoral Thesis Prize.
He has been awarded two six-year national research distinctions (sexenios de investigación). His research has been published in journals such as Arquitectura Viva, ZARCH, DPA, RITA, and REIA, and his scholarly work was recognized at the XIII Spanish Architecture Biennial (2016) and the XI Ibero-American Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism (2019).
In 1993, together with Carmen Martínez Arroyo, he founded the practice arroyopemjean arquitectos. Notable projects include the Town Hall and Community Centre in Madarcos (1994–1996), the Restoration of the Town Hall of Somosierra (1995–1999), the Redevelopment of San Roque Square in Chinchón (2002), and the Headquarters of the Official College of Architects in Salamanca (2004–2010). His work has received numerous awards, including recognition at the IV Spanish Architecture Biennial (1997), the Community of Madrid Architecture Awards (1999), and the COAM Urban Design Award (2001).
He has delivered lectures and conferences in Spain, Portugal, Mexico, and Italy.
