Basabe Montalvo, Luis

Luis Basabe Montalvo (1975) is a founding partner of Arenas Basabe Palacios Arquitectos, an architecture and urban design practice based in Madrid that develops projects across several European countries. Since 2006, the office has received awards in around thirty architecture and urban planning competitions and has been distinguished with prizes such as the Holcim Award Europe in 2014. Their work has been presented, published, and exhibited in Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Austria, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Cyprus, Sweden, Russia, India, Mexico, and South Korea.

Since 2010, he has been an Associate Professor of Architectural Design at the Madrid School of Architecture (ETSAM). Prior to this appointment, he was the recipient of scholarships from the Oriol-Urquijo Foundation and the National Programme for University Teacher Training (FPU).

From 2014 to 2018, he served as Visiting Professor at the Dipartimento di Architettura e Studi Urbani (DAStU) of the Politecnico di Milano. He has also been a researcher and visiting lecturer at numerous academic institutions throughout Europe, Mexico, and India.
