Pemjean Muñoz, Emilio

Architect from ETSAM, with a Master’s Degree in Advanced Architectural Design from ETSAM and an International Master’s Degree in Concept and Creation from EFTI. He is a professor in the Department of Architectural Design at ETSAM and a professor in the Master’s Degree in Architectural Image and Communication at the University of Málaga.

Alongside his work as an architect, educator, and researcher, he also develops his practice as a visual artist. His projects reflect on time, the present and the absent, memory, what has been destroyed or transformed, systems of representation, and the capacity of objects and architectures to become symbols through their manipulated reconstruction.

His work as an architect and artist has received numerous awards, including the 4th Spanish Architecture Biennial, the Madrid Regional Architecture Award, the COAM Urban Planning Award, the Permanent Call for Projects at the Complutense Art Centre (UCM), and various national and international architectural competitions.

His work has been exhibited at institutions and venues including Centro de Arte CarteC Madrid; Centro de Arte Párraga, Murcia; Fundación José Guerrero, Granada; Centro de Arte Tomás y Valiente; MAC Coruña; Musée de l’Elysée, Lausanne; Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Patio Herreriano; Paris Photo; PhotoEspaña; Colegio de España, Paris; Museo Amparo, Puebla, Mexico; Centro Nacional de las Artes, Mexico City; City of Athens Art Center; Palacio del Cardenal Salazar, Córdoba; Naves de Gamazo, Santander; CentroCentro, Madrid; and many others.
