Navarro Ríos, Víctor

Víctor Navarro holds a PhD in Architecture from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) and is Associate Professor of Architectural Design at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid (ETSAM). He has taught at the Universidad Europea de Madrid (UEM) and at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design (GSD). He has also led design studios and workshops at HEAD – Genève in Switzerland and at the Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo (UIMP) in Santander.

Since 2005, he has worked with María Langarita at the Madrid-based architecture practice Langarita Navarro, where they develop architectural projects, conduct research, and lead teams specialising in architecture and urbanism. Their work has received several international distinctions, including the Special Mention for Emerging Architect of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award (2013), for the Red Bull Music Academy project, and the ar+d Award for Emerging Architecture (2012). They have also received several national awards, including the Spanish Architecture and Urbanism Biennial Award (2013), the COAM Award on two occasions (2013 and 2022), the AD Heineken Nuevos Valores Award (2013), and the FAD Architecture Award (2012).

Their work has been selected for numerous exhibitions and biennials, including the Venice Architecture Biennale (2008 and 2014), the Ibero-American Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism (2014 and 2024), and the Spanish Architecture and Urbanism Biennial (2011 and 2013). It has also been exhibited at institutions such as Architekturzentrum Wien and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). Their work forms part of the permanent collection of the Centre Pompidou.
