Montoro Coso, Ricardo

Ricardo Montoro is an architect, researcher, and educator based in Madrid. He holds a Ph.D. in Architecture and an M.A. in Advanced Architectural Design from the School of Architecture of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (ETSAM-UPM), as well as a master’s degree in University Teaching from the University of Alcalá (UAH).

He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Architectural Design at ETSAM, where he teaches architectural design across undergraduate and graduate programs and advises students on degree and master’s theses. His teaching has received the highest rating awarded under the ANECA-DOCENTIA assessment program, in addition to First Prize in the VII Awards for Teaching Innovation Groups at the University of Alcalá (UAH). He has also published research on teaching innovation and is a member of the Educational Innovation Group “Strategy and Techniques for Teaching Architectural Design” ETEP.

His research explores contemporary architecture, the transformation of inhabited environments, and design strategies shaped by specific territorial and cultural contexts. As a member of the “Habitat Culture” Research Group, he has participated in national and international research projects and completed international research stays. His work has been published in academic journals and architectural publications and recognized by the XIII and XV Spanish Biennials of Architecture and Urbanism and the FAD Awards.

Alongside his academic work, Montoro is a partner at mOve architecture laboratory, where he develops a practice that brings together architectural research, experimentation, and design. His work includes national and international competitions and projects and has received awards, exhibitions, and publications in different countries.
