Herráiz Gómez, Miguel

Having graduated from ETSAM in 2005, he was a founding partner and director of Untercio arquitectura (2006–2015) and subsequently of MADhel and HERRAIZBERGMAN (D. Bergman and M. Herraiz, 2015 to the present). He currently maintains a policy of open collaboration with other architectural and engineering practices as part of a process of constant, mutual enrichment.

He promotes architecture rooted in the city, with a particular focus on social and co-operative housing and small-scale urban planning, which prioritises the integration of buildings into their specific surroundings. His work centres on discourses concerning the common good and the city as a collective endeavour. Aware of the environmental impact of construction, sustainability is a key consideration from the very earliest stages of a project.

A specialist in collective housing by vocation, the firm has secured the majority of its commissions through public competitions. They have also won awards for completed projects, notably the 17th BEAU 2025, the first COAM Prize 2024 and a nomination for the EU Mies Awards (European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture) in 2023. Their work is mainly located in Madrid, but they have completed or ongoing projects in Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
