Maruri Mendoza, Nicolás
Bio
Architect since 1987, graduated from the Madrid School of Architecture (ETSAM) with a specialization in Building Design, receiving the highest distinction for his Final Degree Project. He was awarded a Prometeo Scholarship from the European Economic Community (EEC) to study Computer-Aided Architectural Design at the Technische Hochschule Darmstadt, Germany. He subsequently earned a Master of Science degree from Columbia University in New York.
In 2007, he completed his doctoral dissertation, The Machine Cabin: Vertical Space in Le Corbusier’s Domestic Architecture, at ETSAM, receiving the highest distinction of Summa Cum Laude. The thesis was supervised by Alberto Campo.
He has taught Architectural Design at ETSAM since 1992 and served as Secretary of the Final Degree Project Examination Board between 1994 and 1999. He currently holds the position of Associate Professor and is a founding member of the ARKRIT Research Group. He also teaches within the Master’s Programme in Advanced Architectural Design.
In professional practice, he partnered with architects Andrés Cánovas and Atxu Amann in 1987 to establish Temperaturas Extremas Arquitectos SLP. Among other recognitions, the practice received the Spanish National Award for Heritage Restoration for the Molinete Roof Project in Cartagena.
