Luis Martínez Santa-María, Madrid 1960, Architect, Madrid School of Architecture, 1985. Professor of Architectural Design at the ETSAM since 1990, and Full Professor since 2019. Recipient of a Teaching and Research Staff Training Grant in Spain (1988-1990), Extraordinary Doctoral Thesis Award from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) in 2000. First Mention in the 3rd Biennial Architecture Thesis Competition, 2001. COAM Award 2005. Grant from the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome in 2012. Member of the Board of Directors of the Academy of Spain in Rome, 2012. Member of the Quality Commission of the City of Madrid, 2010-2011, Member of the Commission for the Protection of Historical, Artistic and Natural Heritage of the Madrid City Council, 2012-2018, and Director of the book collection "La Cimbra" of the Caja de Ahorros Foundation. Architects, 2005-2015. His projects have won First Prize in Architectural Ideas Competitions 18 times. His works have received the Madrid City Council Architecture Prize (1991), the Manuel De Oraa Prize (1997), the ASCER Prize (2005), the Hispalyt Prize (2007), the Fritz Höger Silver Prize (2014), the FAD Prize (2017), and the Luis Moreno Mansilla Prize (2017). He is the author of the books: The Tree, the Path, the Pond in Front of the House (2004), Intersections (2005), The Book of Rooms (2011), Principles (2012), Superpositions (2018), The Expression of Weight (2021), and the Madrid Guide (2024).
