Juarranz Serrano, Ángela

Ángela Juarranz holds a PhD in Architecture (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid), where she also completed her studies in Architecture and a Master in Advanced Projects. She teaches at the Departamento de Proyectos Arquitectónicos of the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid. He has been a Visiting Scholar at Columbia University in New York, as well as lecturer and jury at national and international universities, such as Central Sant Martins at the University of the Arts London, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Barnard College at Columbia University, School of Architecture and Design at IE University o IED Istituto Europeo di Design.

Her academic work has been recognized, among others, with the III Research Grant in New York, by the Fundación Arquia and the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando; the FPU Scholarship, by the Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte; the COAM Media Award 2020; the Research Exhibition of the XIV Spanish Architecture Biennial; the XVI Venice Biennale; and the International Architecture Biennial of Argentina 2014. Since 2019 she is a member and the Editorial Secretary of the Editorial Committee of Cuadernos de Proyectos Arquitectónicos (UPM). In 2017-2018 she co-curated and co-edited the conference series Argument #1: Sampling Contexts (DPA, Asimétricas, 2019). She is the author of the book Environment: the construction of the environment (Asimétricas, 2023), and the scientific articles published in journals such as Arquitectura Viva, Cuadernos de Proyectos Arquitectónicos, RA Revista de Arquitectura (Universidad de Navarra), RA Revista de Arquitectura (Universidad de Chile), Constelaciones, REIA, among others.

She combines teaching and research with the professional practice. Estudio Juarranz has been recognized with national and international awards, such as the Panorama of Works of the XIV Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism; XVI Venice Architecture Biennale; Europan Award (11, 12, 13); First Works Bauwelt Award Finalist 2017; COAM Award 2017, 2021 and PFC COAM Award 2013 (Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Madrid); COACYL 2020 Award (COA Castilla y León); Premio Empresa Municipal de la Vivienda de Madrid (2012); among others.
