Juárez Chicote, Antonio

PhD in Architecture (ETSAM, 1998) and Associate Professor in the Department of Architectural Design at the Madrid School of Architecture (ETSAM). He pursued postgraduate studies at Columbia University and the University of Pennsylvania. He has been a Visiting Professor at Columbia University, the University of Pennsylvania, the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico, the Autonomous University of Puebla (Mexico), Western Sydney University, the International University of Catalonia, and the University of Porto.

He received the Architecture, Urbanism and Public Works Award from the Madrid City Council in the Media category for the book Banco de Bilbao Sáenz de Oiza, as well as the COAM Award, both developed and edited by the Department of Architectural Design at ETSAM.

His publications include The Imaginary Universe of Louis I. Kahn (2006), Exploration with Matter. Zero Degree in the Architectural Project (2010), Chalk Laboratory. Open Form and Experimental Pedagogy (2016), and the critical anthologies Matterscapes. Taxonomy for Conditions of Material Organization (2014) and Search vs. Re-Search. Teaching Art and Architecture (2016).

He has also published numerous articles in leading national and international academic journals, including Perspecta: The Yale Architectural Journal and the Journal of Architectural Education. Since 2013, he has synthesized his architectural and teaching work through the online publication Projecting, Drawing, Thinking.

His architectural work has been recognized in national and international competitions, including Europan III, V, and VIII. More recently, his work was included in the international exhibition Madrid 100% Architecture in 2011 and 2013. He has also received the Certificate of Recognition from the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
