García-Germán Vázquez, Jacobo

Jacobo García-Germán Vázquez (Madrid, 1974) is an architect (2000), Master in History and Theory from the Architectural Association of London (2003), and a PhD from the Technical School of Architecture of Madrid (2010). Professor at ETSAM since 2005, he is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Soriano Teaching Unit, having been the Coordinator of the Master's program in Advanced Architectural Projects (MPAA) between 2021 and 2025.

He has been a professor and invited critic at various Spanish and international universities and institutions. He has supervised a total of 48 academic research projects and belongs to the ProLab Research Group - Laboratory of Contemporary Project Research.

After collaborating in Rafael Moneo's studio between 1998 and 2001 and working at the Municipal Urban Planning Management of the Madrid City Council (2001-2002), he founded GARCIAGERMAN ARCHITECTS in 2004. His work has received recognition such as the COAM Luis Moreno Mansilla Award 2021, the Mies van der Rohe Award 2019 shortlist, the XIV Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism Award 2018, the Cemex Award 2018, the Fuera de Serie Award 2017, and the First Prize Europan 9.

He was the director of Arquitectura, the magazine of the Official College of Architects of Madrid (COAM) between 2017 and 2022. He is the author of, among other books, Prácticas Documentalistas. Técnicas y genealogías (2024, Critical Essays Collection of the DPA-ETSAM, Winner of the XVII Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism 2025), Documentos de su tiempo (2022, Finalist of the XVI Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism 2023), Fernando Higueras. Técnicas de proyecto de Price a Koolhaas (2012, FAD Award for Thought and Criticism 2013).
