García de Paredes Falla, Ángela

Ángela García de Paredes (1958) is full professor in DPA ETSAM, graduate (1982) and PhD with the UPM Extraordinary Award (2015), she teaches project design at the DPA since 2006. Her teaching extends to other universities as visiting professor, including the IUAV in Venice, and she is active as a critic and lecturer across Europe, Latin America and the USA. Full member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, she chairs its Architecture Section.

In partnership with Ignacio Pedrosa – Paredes Pedrosa Arquitectos – since 1990, she combines professional practice with research in architectural projects, from conception to conceptualization, publishing both built work and academic texts in monographs, books and international journals.

Her built work includes Valdemaqueda Town Hall, social housing and Valle Inclán Theatre in Madrid, Archaeological Museum in Almería, Peñíscola Congress Centre, Olmeda Roman Villa, Public Libraries in Ceuta and Córdoba, and Lugo Auditorium. The recent Spanish Embassy in Piazza Navona, Rome, and the Spanish School in Rabat are also the result of public design competitions. www.paredespedrosa.com

Awarded nationally and internationally, with the National Architecture Prize 2023, Gold Medal for Fine Arts 2014 and Spanish Architecture Prize 2007. AR Emerging Architecture Prize, Madrid Architecture Prize, Gold Medal for Sustainable Architecture, Torroja Prize for Engineering and Architecture, AHI Award in European Architectural Heritage Intervention, Europa Nostra Honourable Mention, among others. She has taken part in Spanish and Ibero-American Biennials, the Venice International Biennale, and curated the 8th and 10th BIAU and the Spanish Pavilion at the 6th Venice Biennale.
