De Miguel García, Sergio

Architect by ETSAM (UPM) in 1990. Research Sufficiency (equivalent to M.Arch) in the Department of Architectural Design of ETSAM in 2001. Ph.D. in Architecture UPM in 2016. Since 1995 has exercised as Associate Professor of Architectural Design at ETSAM. Visiting Professor at several Spanish universities, also at the New School of Architecture of the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico (2000).

His research work “Where the clouds break, Lever House, New York 1950” won the extraordinary doctoral dissertation award UPM (2015/16). Has been Visiting Scholar at the Columbia University of New York (2010-2011). Member of the Research Group “Theory and Criticism of the project and of Modern and Contemporary Architecture” of the DPA ETSAM. Has published both his work and his critical essays in various national and international publications.

Since 1990, has been practicing at the head of the hand madrid architecture office, mainly focused to residential, healthcare, representative and large-scale construction, both in the private and public sectors. Has won numerous prizes in competitions of architectural design and built work. Between 2010 and 2015 combined his professional activity extending his architecture office to Brazil. Has served as curator of different international architectural congresses.
