On 1, 2, 4 and 5 June 2026, the Second Ibero-American Congress on Sustainable Social Housing will be held in the cities of Montevideo and Buenos Aires, under the auspices of the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urbanism of the Universidad de la República (FADU-UdelaR), the Faculty of Architecture of Universidad ORT (FA-ORT), the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urbanism of the Universidad de Buenos Aires (FADU-UBA), and the Department of Architecture, Design and Urbanism of the Universidad Nacional de Avellaneda (DADU-UNDAV).
Under the theme “Forms of Dwelling: Valuing, Recovering, Producing”, the congress invites researchers, practitioners, and specialists to submit papers and share experiences related to social housing in Ibero-America. The aim is to create a space for critical reflection on the characteristics of housing developments, to analyse their heritage and social value, and to debate the most appropriate intervention strategies, whether in processes of rehabilitating existing housing or in the production of new sustainable architectures.
The event is organised by REDIVISS (Ibero-American Network for Sustainable Social Housing), with the institutional support of the host faculties and the Centre for Research on the History of Housing in Latin America (CIHVAL-UBA).
The deadline for abstract submission is 25 August 2025.
