The Department of Architecture and Urban Studies at Politecnico di Milano invites participants to take part in Passages 2025, an international conference dedicated to rethinking spaces related to mobility from an architectural perspective. The event will take place on September 24, 25, and 26, 2025, at the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies of Politecnico di Milano.
Aimed at PhD candidates, early-career researchers, professionals, and recent graduates (within the last five years), Passages proposes a cross-disciplinary approach to mobility, moving beyond purely technical or functionalist perspectives. The conference focuses on how architectural design can overcome the limitations of traditional engineering approaches to envision new spaces that also address ecological, climatic, and social challenges.
Through the analysis of design methodologies and experimental case studies, the event seeks to reveal the potential of architecture as a tool for research and creation in urban and peri-urban contexts. Beyond built objects, it explores the spatial and experiential qualities of mobility, focusing on places located above, below, between, or at the margins of ordinary urban flows, as well as those associated with emerging forms of movement.
Abstract submissions, with a deadline of May 25, should be sent to passages-dastu@polimi.it and submitted through the following form: www.passages.polimi.it/submission/.
