The next edition of the International Summer School (ISS) 2025 will be held under the title: “Deindustrialization as a Project, the Project within Deindustrialisation.” It will take place from September 8 to 13 in Brescia, Valcamonica, and Valsaviore (Italy).
The programme proposes a critical reflection on deindustrialization, understood not only as an economic process but also as a political project with profound social and urban implications. Over the course of six days, participants will have the opportunity to attend keynote lectures, workshops, and guided visits to industrial sites and transforming urban spaces. In addition, field meetings will be organised with workers, trade unions, professionals, and community representatives from the regions involved.
ISS 2025 is aimed at master’s students, recent graduates, PhD candidates, and early-career researchers in the fields of Planning, Urban Studies, Architecture, and Urban and Environmental Sociology. It is also open to participants from related disciplines such as Anthropology, Social History, Political Geography, Ecology, and Philosophy.
