Opening Lecture of the 2025–26 Academic Year

We invite you to the opening lecture of the 2025–26 academic year of the Advanced Architectural Design PhD Programme.

The welcome event will take place on Tuesday, 30 September, in the Conference Room on the 3rd floor of ETSAM, and will consist of the following activities:

-15.00h Opening of the 2025–26 Advanced Architectural Design PhD Programme.

With the participation of the Programme Coordinator (Professor Álvaro Soto), the Academic Secretary of the Programme (Professor María Auxiliadora Gálvez), and the Academic Secretary of the Department of Architectural Design (Professor Sálvora Feliz).

The session will provide an overview of the doctoral programme, including deadlines and activities, and will introduce the resources and references available to doctoral candidates.

-16.00-18.30h Opening lecture delivered by Dirk van den Heuvel (TU Delft).

Researching Architecture: From Archives to Exhibitions.

The first part of the session will be devoted to the lecture, followed by an open discussion with the researchers.

This lecture is linked to the training activities cycle “Researching – 4 Actions in 4 Acts”, planned for the academic years 2024–25 and 2025–26. The cycle explores the multifaceted nature of research through four complementary research languages: oral, graphic, textual, and exhibition-based, which correspond respectively to the workshops Speaking, Drawing, Writing, and Exhibiting. Each academic year includes an opening lecture and two thematic workshops.
