Call for Applications // BIAUS 2024

The ETSAS and the University of Seville, in collaboration with the IUACC and the PhD Programme in Architecture, announce the First Edition (2024) of the BIAUS – Biennial of Architectural Research of the University of Seville. The event is conceived as a meeting place to showcase research in architecture. This first edition aims to become a hub for thinkers connected to architecture and the city as a human habitat, whose research responds to today’s challenges through innovation, knowledge transfer, and new perspectives.

Continuing the School’s commitment to promoting research dissemination and interdisciplinary collaboration, this call is open not only to architects, but also to scientists, economists, writers, sociologists, philosophers, anthropologists, geographers, historians, artists, designers, critics, journalists, lawyers, politicians, and any academic, practitioner, professional, or student interested in conducting research in architecture from related disciplines.

This first edition proposes 10 open and inclusive thematic areas, which will host the selected research projects as part of both the Biennial catalogue and the public exhibition to be held in various spaces throughout the ETSAS.

The BIAUS 2024 Research Festival will take place in Seville in September 2024. It will bring together researchers, research groups, institutions, companies, evaluation agencies, and scientific assessment bodies with the aim of producing a final manifesto to further strengthen the recognition of Architectural Research as a means of responding to the creative challenges facing society today.
