Advanced Architectural Design Doctoral Programme
The Doctoral Programme in Advanced Architectural Design is aimed at architects with previous research experience who have completed a research-oriented Master’s degree and have a research proposal that demonstrates its relevance to the Department of Architectural Design.
ADMISSIONS 2024/2025
Please note that admissions are offered FULL-TIME ONLY; part-time enrolment is not available.
ALL APPLICANTS MUST COMPLETE THEIR PRE-REGISTRATION THROUGH HELIOS FOR THE CORRECT ACADEMIC YEAR AND PROGRAMME, namely the 2024–2025 academic year and the Advanced Architectural Design Doctoral Programme (RD 99/2011). Deadlines and application procedures can be consulted on the UPM website. Any issues related to pre-registration should be resolved directly with the platform.
In addition, applicants must submit the following documents before Friday, February 14, 2025 (inclusive):
- Application Form
- CV + Portfolio + Motivation Letter
The motivation letter must address the following points:
– Relationship of the proposed thesis to the challenges and objectives included in research plans (PEICTI and European research programmes).
– Expected sources of funding.
– Relationship between the proposed research topic and the research groups linked to the programme.
- Thesis Proposal Dossier + Activity Schedule
The above documentation must be sent to doctorado.proyectos.arquitectura@upm.es via wetransfer.com no later than February 14, 2025. All documents must be submitted as a single compressed file named according to the following format “SURNAME1_SURNAME2_FirstName”.
FURTHER INFORMATION
All information provided must be supported by the required official documentation. Data not accompanied by the corresponding official certification will not be considered for evaluation.
All international applicants whose native language is not Spanish must demonstrate a B2 level of Spanish and provide a DELE certificate or equivalent qualification at B2 level or higher.
Before completing the application, applicants are advised to carefully read the Admissions Brochure, the UPM Regulations for the Preparation and Evaluation of Doctoral Theses , and the Amendment to the Regulations (March 30, 2017).
TUITION FEES
The reference tuition fee is €400 per year for full-time students and €250 per year for part-time students. These public fees are subject to the official fee schedule established annually by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and the Regional Government of Madrid and may therefore vary.
The payment form must be requested from the ETSAM Academic Office and submitted together with the admission letter to the programme.
