Bio
Juan Coll-Barreu M Arch PhD RA (graduated with Special Prize Thesis Award and National University College Completion Award) is a tenured professor at the Department of Architectural Design in ETSAM Madrid School of Architecture, where has been Director of LAB 4 courses at MPAA and is currently in charge of Coll-Barreu Teaching Unit.
His built work has been disseminated through numerous lectures, exhibitions and articles in international journals and books. Among other prizes, he has won the Architecture COAVN prize, Honor Mention of Antonio Camuñas Foundation, International VETECO-ASAFAVE prize, and has been awarded at Architecture FAD Prize, Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism, Construmat, and has been nominated to the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture-Mies van der Rohe Award. His work has been exhibited at the Skyscraper Museum in New York, Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, Design Exchange Canada’s Design Museum in Toronto, Nuevos Ministerios Exhibition Center and Conde Duque Civic Center in Madrid, Congress Centre and Museum of Contemporary Art MACBA in Barcelona, Fine Arts Museum in Bilbao, and other galleries and Architects Associations Headquarters in Europe.
He has also taught architectural design at the Universities of Navarre, Salamanca and Lisbon in Europe, Texas at Arlington and NC State University in the United States. He is also a frequent lecturer in other universities and institutions.
Has been researcher at UCLA and Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles. Has done research projects, lectured, written books and articles, and presented international invitational papers on contemporary architecture and culture.
