del Valle González, Raúl

Raúl del Valle González (Madrid, 1972) is an Architect from School of Architecture of Madrid, ETSAM. He graduated with honors in 1998. He holds a PhD in Architecture from Polytechnic University of Madrid, UPM, Mention Cum Laude, from 2006. He was First Mention in the VII Competition for Best Doctoral Thesis Fundación Caja de Arquitectos in 2009.

He has been an Assistant Professor from 1999 to 2004 and Associate Professor from 2008 to 2017. Currently, he is a PhD Assistant Professor in the Department of Architectural Design. He has also taught in the Master’s Degree in Advanced Architectural Design, MPAA, for eight years, directing the Seminar “Versus Le Corbusier”.

He has taught or been invited critic at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Universidad de Costa Rica, Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa, Universidad CEU San Pablo, Universidad Francisco de Vitoria among others, and he has lectured on his work in Monterrey, Lisboa, Bogotá, Liége, Roma, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Sevilla y Madrid.

He is Responsible for the Experimental Workshop 1. Projects 0 “The Room” at the School of Architecture of Madrid since 2017.

He was award with the Rome Prize in 2011. He has been Visiting Scholar at the Graduated School of Architecture of Columbia University, GSAPP, in NYC, during the academic year 2000-2001.

Set up his own practice in 2000. His built works includes a Multipurpose Hall Camilo José Cela in Madrid (2007), an Immigration Office in Leganés (2007), a Pavilion at the Madrid Book Fair (2006) and a Pavilion of the Official Association of Architects in Madrid (2004). He has worked in Campo Baeza’s Architects Office (1996-2000) and Antón García-Abril Ensamble Estudio (1997-1998). He has received over 21 prizes and honorable mentions in international architecture competitions, including the competition for architects under forty years, Europan 6.

He has published both his work and his critical essays in various national and international publications. He has exhibited in the Venice Biennial 2000 and the Venice Biennial 2002.

He has published one book, “De, por, para… la Arquitectura” (Nobuko, 2013) and he has wrote architecture reviews as a critic for El Cultural newspaper since 2005 until 2012.
