Donaire García de la Mora, Jesús
Jesús Donaire holds a PhD in Architecture from ETSAM-UPM, awarded with the UPM Extraordinary Doctorate Prize, and a Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University in New York, where he studied as a Fulbright Fellow and received the Honor Award for Excellence in Design and the William Kinne Fellows Traveling Prize. He has also been a fellow of the UPM Social Council and the Spanish Academy in Rome.
He is Associate Professor of Architectural Design at ETSAM-UPM. He has taught at Barnard + Columbia College of Architecture in New York, Universidad Nebrija, Suffolk University in Boston, and Universidad de Navarra. For ten years, he directed the Laboratorio Donaire as Visiting Professor at the Politecnico di Milano. He has lectured, led workshops, and served on design juries at universities and institutions across Europe and the Americas.
He practices architecture at Donaire Milans Arquitectos (DMA). He previously worked with David Chipperfield in London and with Jesús Aparicio and Alberto Campo Baeza in Madrid. His work has received recognition from the ENOR, COAM, ASCER, IIDA Chicago, Architizer New York, Arquitectura con Ñ, and CSCAE Architecture Awards. In 2022, he won first prize in the international competition for the renovation and extension of the Spanish Academy in Rome.
He has also developed extensive editorial, curatorial, and exhibition design work. He has served as Secretary of the BigMat International Architecture Award and as curator and exhibition designer at the Spanish Academy in Rome (2018–2021). His research and professional work have been widely disseminated through international publications and exhibitions.
