Fogué Herreros, Uriel

Ph.D. in Architecture (UPM Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Prize, 2015; Finalist at the X-BIAU, 2016). His work explores the role of architecture to face ecological matters from a cosmopolitical and cosmotecnical approach. In dialogue with other disciplines—such as philosophy, sociology, and art—he combines his architectural practice, at the architecture firm elii, with research, at the Political Fictions Crisis Cabinet, and teaching at the Polytechnic University of Madrid and Columbia University in the City of New York.

elii was part of the Spanish Pavilion at the 18th and 15th Venice Architecture Biennale (the latter Golden Lion, 2016) and the 24th Milan International Triennale (2025). Among other international recognitions, two of their works were selected for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture—Mies van der Rohe Award (2015, 2019). Also recognized with the Casa de la Arquitectura Award (2026), FAD Awards (2026, 2020, 2005), March Award (2026), Golden Prize - Holcim Awards (2023), COAM Awards (2018, 2017, 2013, 2011, 2006), among others. Their work Yojigen Poketto was selected as one of the 20 visionary domestic spaces of the last 100 years in the exhibition Home Stories 100 Years, 20 Visionary Interiors, Vitra Design Museum (2020).

He is author of Las arquitecturas del fin del mundo (Puente Editores, 2022), winner of the 16th BEAU Award (2023) and Finalist at the FAD Award - Thought and Criticism (2023). Also co-author of Super Petites Maisons (EPFL, 2022) and What is Home Without a Mother (HIAP – MataderoMadrid, 2015), winner of the XIII-BEAU Award (2015).
