Gálvez Pérez, Auxiliadora
PhD Architect, Landscape Architect, and Feldenkrais Teacher. From 1997 to 2024, she was a faculty member at the Higher Polytechnic School (E.P.S.) of CEU San Pablo University. Since 2024, she has been Associate Professor at the Madrid School of Architecture (E.T.S.A.M., UPM). Alongside her academic career, she has developed projects, teaching activities, and research internationally across a variety of institutions. In 2003, she founded Gálvez+Wieczorek, and in 2016 the Platform for Somatics for Architecture and Landscape, through which urban, architectural, artistic, and landscape projects and research are carried out based on the experiences of diverse bodies. In 2001, she was awarded a fellowship by the Casa de Velázquez; in 2010 by the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna; and in 2012 she received an EEA Grant from the Norwegian Embassy. Between 2006 and 2010, she served as Panama Coordinator for the International Cooperation Programme for Social Housing developed by the Regional Government of Andalusia. A three-time Europan prize winner, her architectural work has received international awards and has been exhibited at venues including the Venice Architecture Biennale, the Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine (Paris), and the KINDL Centre for Contemporary Art (Berlin). She has created installations and performances at institutions such as the Museo Reina Sofía (Madrid), Dance House Lefkosia (Nicosia), Galería NF, Galeria Municipal do Porto and the Zentrum Fokus Forschung at the University of Applied Arts Vienna (Die Angewandte). As a researcher, she has served, among other roles, on the Scientific Committee of the conference “Middle-Class Housing in Perspective”, held in Milan in 2012, and was co-director of “We Are All Able Bodies: From Sensory Deprivation to Sensory Augmentation”, held in Madrid in 2018 with the support of the International Ambiances Network. She is the author of “Somatic Space: Multiple Bodies” (2019), “Wastelands” (2022), and co-author of “Ecology Is Dead... And We Killed It” (2025). She participates in the international project “Iliggocene: The Age of Dizziness” and is currently a Visiting Researcher at the Centre for Spatial and Digital Ecologies, University of Greenwich, London.
