García Barona, Camilo

Camilo Garcia is a Colombian-Spanish architect, co-founder and co-director of Husos arquitecturas, and Design Studio Professor at ETSAM-UPM in Madrid. He holds a Master’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the Berlage Institute and studied architecture at Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá and the Mackintosh School of Architecture in Glasgow.

In 2003, Camilo co-founded Husos with Diego Barajas. Husos is an architectural practice whose work is grounded in a constant dialogue between research and design, theory and practice. Husos understands architecture as a practice of ecological and social transformation, and explores the extent to which it can contribute to the well-being and enjoyment of the diversity of beings that inhabit the world, while also supporting planetary health—two dimensions they understand as inseparable. Their work acknowledges architecture’s responsibility in the climate crisis and in other pressing social crises of our time.

In 2026, Husos received the Claude Parent Prize in recognition of its body of work and professional trajectory. Its work was also shortlisted for the Royal Academy Dorfman Award (2024) and has received the Holcim Awards Gold Europe (2023), the FAD Architecture Prize (2026) and the Casa de la Arquitectura Innovation Prize (2026), for the Building for Infinito Delicias, designed together with Elii, among other distinctions.

His work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Venice Architecture Biennale, Oslo Architecture Triennale, International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam and Bienal de Quito, and is part of the permanent collections of FRAC Centre and the Museum of Rotterdam. His projects and writings have appeared in publications including Domus, Abitare, L’Architecture d’Aujourd’hui, Volume, AV and 2G.
