García Pedrosa, Ignacio

Ignacio G. Pedrosa (1957) PhD ETSAM 1983 with the thesis Auditórium, a 20th Century typology, awarded by UPM. Professor at the Architectural Design Department in ETSAM since 1995, he is also visiting professor, lecturer, juror and curator through national and international architectural academic and professional contexts.

Together with Ángela García de Paredes he established Paredes Pedrosa Arquitectos in 1990 dedicated to professional and research activity. Europan Award in 1991 and 1996. They have won 21 first prizes in competitions, recently the Spanish School in Rabat and the Visigoth Museum in Mérida. Built work include Valdemaqueda Town Hall, Valle Inclán Theatre in Madrid, Archaeology Museum in Almería, Auditoriums in Peñíscola and Lugo, Olmeda Roman Villa and Ceuta and Córdoba Public Libraries.

Curators of the Spanish Pavilion in the VI Biennial of Venice and in the VIII and X BIAU. Awarded in several Spanish and Ibero-American Biennales. Exhibited in five Venice Biennials. Monographic exhibitions in Lisbon, Porto, Ottawa and New York. Invited to the international Pavilion of Venice Biennale 2018.

Awarded nationally and internationally, among others by the Government of Spain with the Spain Fine Arts Gold Medal 2014, Spain Architecture Award 2007, Eduardo Torroja Award 2016. Architecture Review Award 1999, four COAM awards, two Madrid Architecture awards, two ASCER awards, Gold Medal Sustainable Architecture 2012, European Prize AADIPA 2015, finalist EU Mies Award 2015, Honourable Mention Piranesi Prix de Rome 2016, finalist Aga Khan Prize 2016.
