Garrido Colmenero, Ginés

Architect [1989] ETS Arquitectura, UPM. PhD Architect [2005] ETS Arquitectura, UPM. Extraordinary Doctorate Award (2005) and Award in the V Competition for Best Doctoral Thesis Fundación Caja de Arquitectos (2006). Professor at the Department of Architecture Projects ETS Arquitectura UPM since 1991 and Associated Professor since 2007. He has been a Visiting Professor at the Washington University St. Louis (2017, 2019), GSD Harvard University (2012, 2013), Universidad Pontificia Católica Perú (2011, 2017), Universidad Central Santiago de Chile (2008), University of Arizona (2005).

He founded Burgos & Garrido Arquitectos [BGA] together with Francisco Burgos in 2002. Over the last few years, they have focused their work on the development of public space and urban design projects, including Madrid Rio, a project awarded with the XII Veronica Rudge Green Prize in Urban Design (2016), GSD Harvard. Additionally, BGA has completed diverse housing and public facility projects and has received over 40 prizes in international architecture competitions, including the competition for the Extension of the Art Museum of Lima.
BGA has received, among others, the following awards: American Architecture Prize (2017); XII Veronica Rudge Green Prize in Urban Design, Harvard University (2016); Hispania Nostra Award (2016); FAD Award (2009, 2012); XIII Spanish Architecture and Urbanism Biennial Award (2016); COAM Award (2000, 2001, 2003, 2011, 2012, 2014), Ibero-American Architecture and Urbanism Biennial Award (2012); Green Good Design Award (2012); International Architecture Award (2012); Mies van der Rohe Award [Finalist] (2012); A Plus Award (2012); VII European Landscape Award (2012); CCCB European Prize for Urban Public Space (2011); CICA Award (2011); COICCP Award (2011); JEC Composites Award (2011); Obra Excelente Award (2000); XVI Award in Urbanism, Architecture and Public Works.
