Gil studied Architecture at ETSA Madrid and TU Delft, she graduated with Honors from the MPAA (Master in Advanced
Architecture) program at ETSAM-UPM, and she is a PhD candidate in Advanced Architectural Design Program
(Dissertation title: “Dispositivos tecnológicos contemporáneos. De las relaciones entre la arquitectura y la
computación durante el s.XX hasta la actualidad”. Dissertation Advisor: Federico Soriano Pelaez, Year: on going).
She is worknig in the research group “ProLab” ETSAM-UPM, in the research line  “degrowth and shrink”. She is
also member of the Educational Innovation Group “Dispositivos Aglutinadores de Proyecto” ETSAM-UPM which have
been awarded this year as the best Innovation Group at UPM (2019).

Prior to joining the Architecture Design Department at ETSAM-UPM, Gil has taught studios, workshops and seminars
at UPSAM (Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca, Campus de Madrid), UFV (Universidad Francisco de Vitoria), UNIR
(Universidad Internacional de La Rioja), Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (UPV), Aarhus School of Architecture
(Aarhus, Denmark), Politecnico de Milano (Milan, Italy), Soongsil University (Seoul, South Korea), Feng Chia
University (Taichung, Taiwan), Escola da Cidade (Sao Paulo, Brasil), UNESP-Bauru (Universidade Estadual Paulista
“Júlio de Mesquita Filho”, Sao Paulo, Brasil), etc.

 

She is a Madrid based scholar and architect, co-founder and principal of elii [architecture office] with the
architects Uriel Fogué Herreros and Carlos Palacios Rodriguez, all of whom have previously worked in architectural
firms of international renown. elii is an architecture office founded in 2006 that carries out its professional
activity in the following fields: individual and collective housing, refurbishment, offices and work centres,
industrial buildings, ephemeral architecture and design of museum exhibitions design of furniture, infrastructure
buildings, urban planning, public spaces, urban furniture and collaboration with artists. elii covers all stages
of the project, from the design phase to project management, working both in the public and private sectors, in
Spain and abroad.

Their work and articles have appeared in specialized publications and exhibitions, having obtained recognition
and awards for outstanding performance. Their work has been nominated for European Union Prize for Contemporary
Architecture Mies Van Der Rohe Award 2019 twice (2019 and 2015) and had a selected work to be part of the Spanish
Pavillion in the 15th International Architecture of Venize, 2016, winner of the Golden Lion (2016). She had won
the first COAM Award (2018, 2017, 2016, 2013, 2011 and 2005), XIII Bienal Española de Arquitectura y Urbanismo
Award (2016, 2015, 2013), Arquia Próxima Award Interior Design and Refurbishment (2014), JustMad Award for Emergent
Creativity (2013), FAD Award -Opinion- (2005) and mentions at MatCOAM, Category – Sustainability (2018) and
VETECO-ASEFAVE Award (2018). She was finalist to the Archdaily’s 2018 Building of the Year Awards, Gubbio Prize 2018,
Living Places Simon Award 2018, Mapei Award 2018, FAD Award (2018 and 2017), Iakov Chernikhov Prize 2015 and NAN
Awards 2013.

Their work has been selected as one of the 20 visionary interiors of the last 100 years by the Vitra Design Museum
in Weil am Rhein (2020) inside the exhibition “Home Stories 100 years, 20 visionary interiors” and has been selected
as one of the “100 Architects of the year 2012”, KIA Korean Institute of Architects and the UIA International Union
of Architects in Seoul (2012).
