Gil Lopesino, Eva

PhD in Architecture (2009–2023) (First Prize in the 15th Biennial Architecture Thesis Competition in its 2025 Iberian edition, ‘Arquia/tesis’, Arquia Foundation) from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid and TU Delft, as well as a Master’s degree in Advanced Architectural Projects (2012) with honors. Her work explores the role of architecture in addressing ecological issues from a cosmopolitical and cosmotechnical perspective, with a focus on contemporary technological devices. Engaging in dialogue with other disciplines – such as computing and art – she combines her architectural practice at the renowned architectural practice elii with research, as a member of the ‘ProLab’ Research Lab and the Educational Innovation Group ‘Dispositivos Aglutinadores de Proyecto’ (UPM Educational Innovation Award 2019 and 2018), and with teaching as Assistant Professor at María Goyri program at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (winner of the 2021 UPM Educational Innovation Award as lecturer), amongst other activities.

elii was part of the Spanish Pavilion at the 18th and 15th Venice Architecture Biennale (the latter Golden Lion, 2016) and the 24th Milan International Triennale (2025). Among other international recognitions, two of their works were selected for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture—Mies van der Rohe Award (2015, 2019). Also recognized with La Casa de la Arquitectura Award (Innovation, 2026), FAD Awards (2026, 2020), March Award (2026), Golden Prize - Holcim Awards (2023), COAM Awards (2018, 2017, 2013, 2011, 2006), among others. Their work Yojigen Poketto was selected as one of the 20 visionary domestic spaces of the last 100 years in the exhibition Home Stories 100 Years, 20 Visionary Interiors, Vitra Design Museum (2020).

She is the co-author of the books Super Petites Maisons (EPFL, 2022) and What is Home Without a Mother (HIAP – MataderoMadrid, 2015), winner of the 13th BEAU Prize (2015), as well as the ’El Modelo’ and ‘Atlas of Emulation of the Informal’ collections.
