Bio
Concha Lapayese is Phd. in architecture, with an extraordinary award, and a Contracted Professor in the Department of Architectural Projects. She also holds a Masterschule in Architecture from the Städelschule (Frankfurt), and a Diploma in Architecture specializing in Environmental Studies from UCL’s Bartlett School of Architecture.
She directs the research line ‘Conceptual actions in the landscape’ of the Cultural Landscape Research Group. Her research projects include ‘Border landscapes: displacements in the Strait of Gibraltar’ and ‘Cultural landscape: new dimensions of the mining landscape’, both initiated together with Darío Gazapo.
Since 2006, it has been carrying out an intense teaching innovation activity around the landscape project through the ‘Hybrid Actions in the Landscape’ program, incorporated in different formats at the undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels. In addition, he was responsible for the Landscape Architecture and Urbanism Line of the master’s in advanced architectural projects MPAA. She coordinates the MPAA Mentoring teaching internship program.
She is co-author of the book “The construction of the landscape: between interiority and exteriority” together with Darío Gazapo (Dapp, 2009). And co-editor of “Research Territories” (Asimétricas, 2020) together with Francisco Arques. She has been scientific coordinator of the ETSAM Academic Texts Collection.
Co-curator of the Spanish Pavilion at the Venice Biennale “Inner Landscapes”. Since 1990 she has carried out her professional activity together with Darío Gazapo in Madrid, and since 2006 she has carried out her regulated research activity linked to the Cultural Landscape Research Group of the UPM.
