Montenegro Mateos, Nestor

Néstor Montenegro is an architect and PhD researcher at ETSAM.

Associate Professor of Design at ETSAM since 2010, he has been a visiting professor at the American University of Sharjah, Antwerp Universiteet and Director of the Tricontinental Master’s Degree in Advanced Architectural Design as a collaboration between Universidad Europea in Madrid, Tongji University in Shanghai and the New School of Architecture in San Diego.

He formed dosmasunoarquitectos in 2003 with Ignacio Borrego and Lina Toro. Later, in 2013, he founded EXTUDIO, a platform in which he develops his professional activity in various fields related to Architecture: from project to dissemination, editing and curating, research and teaching.

Among his built works are: 102 dwelling in Carabanchel and the Móstoles Social Services Center, both in Madrid. He has been awarded in more than 30 architecture competitions. Under construction are the Municipal Library and Theater in Boadilla del Monte, and the Museum of Semana Santa in Zamora, both, as result of first prizes in competitions.

His work has been widely published, including publications such as El Croquis, Domus, 2G and A + U. Prizes for his work include the Arquia Proxima Award, the AIT Award and the COAM Award, having been nominated for the Iakov Chernikov Prize for young architects in 2010.
