Ribot Manzano, Almudena

Almudena Ribot is an Associate Professor of Design at the School of Architecture ETSAM. She is responsible for a Design Studio Group UD. Ribot (also CoLab) since 2010, which combines three teachers more, at graduate and postgraduate levels. She also co-leads her own Architecture Studio since 1990.

Her interests focus on three interrelated fields: Industrialization, Customization and Environmental, Social and Economic Sustainability.
Professionally takes shape on the priority of systemic and construction as design languages and the use of industrial systems and customizable solutions. This has meant CUATRO50 Industrialized Housing System, co-directed since 2007.
From the educational point of view, she is interested in collaborative processes. In 2009 founded and co-leads the CoLaboratorio Group: Manufacturing, Prototyping and Collaboration. Since then she develops projects, teaching and research in this line.

Innovation and Research:
In 2009 becomes the UPM Educative Innovation Group GIE Dispositivos Aglutinadores de Proyectos Integrated Desing Mechanims in collaboration with Federico Soriano Design Studio Group. This GIE has developed more than 10 Innovative Projects. Projects awards in 2015, 2018 and the Group Recognition in 2019.
Member of Research Group ProLab Estrategias de Proyecto Contemporáneo / Contemporary Design Strategies.
She leads MIPPA Máster en Industrialización, Prototipado y Proyecto / Industrialization, Prototyping and Design Postgraduate Master.
She also is the Fab Lab ETSAM responsible Professor.
She publishes 8 books with CoLab. Among them Open Building 2.0. 2017 First Award at “Architecture and Urbanism Spanish Biennale XIV BEAU” and Open City. Re-thinking the Post-Industrial City 2020.
She leads 7 Research Projects. Last one: Build It Together / BIT / A documentary film about Collaborative Architectures. Grant Concession for the Research Project, College of Arts and Architecture, Penn State University 2019.

Professional Practice:
She co-leads Núñez Ribot Arquitectos from 1990. The firm has won 32 Architectural Awards and its work has been published 62 times and exhibit in 12 architectural exhibitions.
