Bio
Ignacio Senra graduated as an Architect from the Madrid School of Architecture (ETSAM) in 2005. He earned a Master of Architecture from Columbia University in 2009, where he received the Award for Excellence in Design, and completed his PhD in Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) in 2015 with the dissertation The Edited City.
He currently teaches Architectural Design Studios 1 and 2, as well as part of the Practical Criticism Workshop within the Master’s Programme in Advanced Architectural Design (MPAA). Prior to joining the Department of Architectural Design at ETSAM as an Associate Professor, he taught Architectural Design, Theory, and Criticism at the School of Architecture of Nebrija University.
His research has been published in journals including Arquitectura Viva, CIRCO, PPA, REIA, and CPA. He is co-editor of VARIA, the journal of the Association of Architectural and Urban History Scholars, a member of the scientific committee of Critic-all, and a reviewer for Daimon: International Journal of Philosophy and Dearq: Journal of Architecture.
After working at the office of Rafael Moneo, he established his own architectural practice together with Elisa Sequeros. Their work has received numerous awards and distinctions in national and international design competitions. His built projects have been published in leading architectural journals such as Arquitectura Viva, Domus, and Häuser. His work has been featured in the Arquia Próxima awards and received the Häuser Award in Germany in 2018.
